Tips on how to keep your social media secure.
We've been hacked recently on our social media accounts and we don't want you to have to go through the same things! Check out these tips to help protect your account.
Create a strong password.
Don't use a password from another website or something predictable. Create a unique passcode and save it in a secure database or location.
Use two-factor authentication.
Allow the two-factor authentication to work it's magic. You can use your email, phone number, or an authentication application.
Check the activity log regularly.
Make sure to check your activity on a regular basis. If you suspect any suspicious activity, report it and change your passwords.
Change your password every so often.
It's always a good idea to change your password every few months. This will make it harder for a hacker to get into your account.
Don't accept friend requests from people you don't know.
You don't know someone that has friended you? Delete the request and if the profile looks suspicious, report and block them.
Don't click on suspicious links.
This one is a gimme, but is very common. Today, there are a lot of business pages that are advertising their websites. Go on google and verify the business before you click on any links.
Review your payment history.
If you have your card linked to Facebook in any way, check the payment history in your settings. If there are little charges here and there, report it, dispute the charges, and change your passwords.
Make sure you don't have malware on your device.
You can use a reputable program like Norton to check for viruses on your computer. It may cost you a little money, but it is worth the peace of mind.
Look for suspicious activity through your email.
I know, I know....no one likes to look through their emails. I do recommend looking through them every now and then to make sure you aren't receiving a bunch of spam emails.
Use login alerts to detect suspicious logins.
You can get these alerts by turning them on in your settings. This way you know what kind of device and where the device is that is trying to login to your account.
